1.  Application background

With the rapid development of inland shipping, the information management system for shipping has been gradually applied in maritime agencies and port and shipping departments, in order to improve the water traffic situation, reduce the accident rate, and raise the ship management to an orderly, reasonable and efficient management level. Among them, accurate, effective, all-weather automatic monitoring of ship flow, ship information collection has become an urgent need to achieve the function.

2. Application Introduction

Establishment of defense area
In the first step, Benewake Horn-X2 LiDAR (hereinafter referred to as Horn-X2) is used to set up defense zones in the waters where the flow of ships needs to be monitored.

Horn-X2 has a range of more than 500 meters and 24-hour active monitoring, which is suitable for low visibility and no ambient light environment. At the same time, Horn-X2 has a wide field of view, high-definition density point cloud can accurately restore the 3D image information of ships in the monitored area, so as to accurately set the defense area.

For example, a defense zone with a length of 500 meters and a depth of 500 meters can be set up for the area with large flow of ships in the same navigation area. When the ships enter the defense zone, the ship type and other information (volume, draft, speed and heading) can be monitored in real time to predict the traffic flow in the area.

Trigger alarm
In the second step, Horn-X2 gives an alarm to the ships in the defense area according to the alarm logic.

Horn-X2, resolution up to 0.05 °, Even in the face of complex ship types of different sizes, it can be accurately identified. When it is detected that the ship flow density in the navigable waters is greater than the set flow, it can effectively trigger the early warning signal, provide data reference for channel planning, and ensure the safe and smooth passage of the channel.

In the water area, if the number of ships exceeds the preset number of alarms, sound and light alarms will be issued immediately to remind the ship's personnel and supervisors to pay attention to prevent collision accidents due to excessive flow of ships.

Function upgrade
The ship flow statistics solution based on Horn-X2 can be further upgraded, such as:

a. The scheme can be configured with camera ball machine for thunder ball linkage to capture or record video, so as to further confirm the ship status and improve the channel flow record.

b. The scheme can be combined with AI algorithm to set the ship type information and cache its features, so as to eliminate some normal moving targets in the defense area and reduce false alarms.

c. The scheme should also include client user interface, system log, communication protocol, etc. to facilitate system integration.
