Beijing, Dec. 2 (Xinhua Finance) - A report jointly released by LiDAR enterprise Benewake (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Beijing Jiaotong University shows that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the intelligent development of domestic rail transportation is expected to further speed up, which will open up broad development space for the domestic radar industry.

With the advancement of urbanization, car ownership continues to go up, urban traffic space is insufficient, air pollution sometimes intensifies, and urban traffic problems have become one of the main constraints of China's urban development.

The report titled "White Paper on the Application of Radar in the Rail Transit Industry" believes that the development of intelligent transportation systems, including intelligent rail transit, will be the key to solving urban transportation problems and will be the best entry point for technology-enabled urban transportation.

Statistics show that from 2020 to 2025, among the seven industrial fields involved in China's "new infrastructure", the total investment scale in intercity high-speed rail and urban rail transportation may reach 344 billion yuan.

The report believes that the localization of core components of intelligent rail transportation is the future trend. Radar, as the "data source" of rail transit control system, provides an important database for rail transit intelligence and will usher in a broad development opportunity in the next five years.

According to this report, radar technology, as one of the important means of perception, will help intelligent rail transit to develop in both risk reduction and efficiency improvement by virtue of the advantages of not being affected by light and darkness, and having the ability to penetrate obstacles. In terms of risk reduction, radar can realize early warning and obstacle avoidance functions by sensing road conditions. In terms of efficiency improvement, radar can help shorten workshop distances, thus improving roadway traffic flow and enhancing the overall capacity of intelligent rail transit.
