The intelligent automatic car door continuously senses its surroundings, including pedestrians, other vehicles, and static obstacles. If a potential collision is detected, it can quickly respond by stopping the door from opening or adjusting its speed and angle, effectively preventing accidents and potential losses.
To enhance the understanding of the environment around the door and to implement automatic obstacle avoidance, Benewake focuses on addressing corner cases in electric door obstacle detection. This makes the door more like having a "smart eye," capable of monitoring and intelligently recognizing its surroundings, predicting potential risks, and avoiding them proactively.
The compact TF-NOVA line pattern laser beam LiDAR is easy to install discreetly without compromising the car's aesthetics. When mounted under the rearview mirror, it positions the LiDAR's detection range parallel to the door and slightly angled outward by about 20 cm. This setup allows the protective zone to move with the door, ensuring early detection along its opening path.
Within a protective area greater than 20 cm, the TF-NOVA reliably detects surrounding obstacles, even on black or glossy surfaces. With a detection frequency of up to 500 Hz, it quickly identifies nearby metal objects, pedestrians, bicycles, and other fast-moving obstacles, triggering system alerts promptly and enhancing driving safety.
