This application is an innovative assistive device designed to enhance the mobility and safety of blind individuals. It integrates Benewake TF-Luna LiDAR sensor for precise obstacle detection, an ESP-32S development board for intelligent decision-making, and vibrators for tactile feedback. The system allows users to detect obstacles in real-time and receive haptic alerts through a wearable device, such as a smartwatch or a handheld cane. Additionally, the device supports remote configuration via Bluetooth or WiFi, enabling customization through smart devices.
Specific Application Introduction
The device operates in three main steps:
1. Obstacle Detection: A LIDAR sensor mounted on a cane or wearable device scans the environment for obstacles.
2. Vibration Alert: When an obstacle is detected, the vibrator in the wearable (e.g., wristband or cane handle) alerts the user.
3. Behaviour Adjustment: The user changes direction or stops based on the tactile feedback, ensuring safe navigation.
High Precision Sensing: Uses LiDAR technology, which is more accurate than millimeter-wave radar and less dependent on lighting conditions.
Long Range: It has a measurement capability of over 8 meters indoors and can ensure effective measurement of 2.5 meters even under the scorching sun at noon.
Compact Size: It is easy to integrate into various blind canes and can be installed easily.
Intelligent Algorithm: Implements optimized algorithms to improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives.
Tactile Feedback: Provides intuitive vibration alerts to the user’s palm or wearable device.
Smart Device Integration: Allows distance and sensitivity settings to be adjusted via smartphone or other smart devices.
Modular & Scalable Design: Comprises sensor, strategy, and operation layers for flexible implementation in various assistive scenarios.
